Darcy presents My Paper-Covered File Cabinet posted at Smart-Bottom Enterprises, saying, “I made this and I just think it’s great! Crafts Carnival #6

Hurray…this is Crafts Carnival #6 and I am so glad that crafters out there are continuing to submit posts so we all can share in your wonderful work! Your tutorials give me so much inspiration to get out my stash of craft materials and do something new or forgotten. Your one of a kind displays of creativity and hard work allow us to marvel in your talent. Thanks so much everyone for submitting your posts and contributing to this monthly Crafts Carnival!!

Here goes…

Quirky submitted this cool project called Keeping Quirky Dolls Out of Trouble. These Quirky Dolls keep you company and actually help you out by holding your pins while you sew! I bet you could talk with your Quirky Doll while you’re working…it’s always nice to have an approving smile once while you mend and sew. You need to take a look at this post at Bonding Moms & Daughters To Navigate Our Crazy World ……….Oh Yeah AND Crafts!!!.

Cyndi has compiled her favorite collage and art quilt techniques and you can see it at Collage and quilt techniques posted at Mixed Media Artist. Cyndi shares her a bunch of techniques to make incredible collages and provides handy links to teach you collage methods that she has worked on over the years. There are packing tape transfer collages, organic collages, digital collages and more. Please stop on by Collage and quilt techniques.

Heather has conceived a clutch to store and protect all the necessities and tools of knitting. At How to: The Knitting Clutch QUiD essential posted at QUiD essential, Heather shares a step by step tutorial on making your own knitting clutch. The tutorial includes terrific photos and simple instructions so you too can make your own clutch. I’m sure this clutch would be great storage and handy carry-along for many of your fine projects such as beading, sewing, etc.

Lyndsey did a phenomenal job of turning a vintage t-shirt into a stylish baby onesie. At Baby Vintage Reconstruction posted at Life of Lyndsey, Using fabric from recycled t-shirts. Lyndsey creates fantastic baby clothing out of a pattern that she has designed herself. Wishing you much success on your custom made venture!

I love this next project because it’s easy, inexpensive and I can do it with my kids and teach other kids how to do it as well. Wendy Piersall shows us her Tissue Paper Flower Topiary posted at Craft Jr and demonstrates the steps she took to make her fabulous topiary. Just add a personal note onto the topiary and present it as a sweet Mother’s day gift.

Welcome Michele all the way from Finland where the weather is brrrr….cold. Michele presents an outstanding Bangle wristwarmer tutorial at A House Called Nut - Life in the backwoods of Finland. She teaches teaches us how to make a set of funky, knit bangles that are great for yarn leftovers. For those of us living with warmer weather, this will be an excellent time to start on winter gifts for friends far and near!

I’ve always enjoyed making clothing for dolls/stuffed animals but I’ve never managed making loafers for dolls. But now Tarja Simpanen provides a superb tutorial at Loafers for Agnes Dreary on Fashion Doll Shoes that is tempting me to make a go at this fine project. I wonder if making these a little bigger would work for little human feet to toddle around the house?

Well this concludes the 6th edition of the Crafts Carnival and I hope you have had a good time. Thank you once again stopping by and for submitting your enjoyable blog articles for all to read. If you would like to participate in the next edition of crafts carnival, please use the carnival submission form to send your articles. Craft Carnival #5

Welcome to the April 8, 2009 edition of crafts carnival. I’m happy to present this terrific collection of crafts and tutorials to inspire the creative side of you. Lately I’ve been in a crafty slump but I have been given renewed energy after reading all of these wonderful posts. Enjoy!

Vanessa at My Scrapbooking Journey gives us creative time saving tips to make your own scrapbook page layouts. On her post, More Kitty Cat…and a Little On Layouts, Vanessa sketches a draft her layout before actually placing her photos on the page. This will save a lot of frustration for those who want to experiment with picture placement first before actually cutting up your photos.

Like many of us, Stephanie enjoys giving “just because” gifts to friends but as when we try to control our spending, this nice gesture of appreciation is often eliminated. In her blog post, Drink Coaster from Scrap Fabrics, Stephanie provides easy to follow instructions on how to make this wonderful drink coaster gift for your own home or for friends. Get more money saving ideas at Make it From Scratch.

Here is another money saving craft idea from Coco at Frugal in Paradise. This crafty and penny-wise post called Turn a Man’s Shirt into a Cushion Cover is the perfect project for me because it does not involves sewing zippers or button holes (hurray!) and now I can make use of those expensive but worn Aloha shirts that I never wanted to part with. If you don’t have Aloha shirts, I’m sure you could use another type of button down shirt…right Coco?

Cindy at My Recycle Bags makes Spring even more special with her free pattern link to Crochet a Recycled Easter Egg Basket. This basket is made from recycled plastic bags. What a resourceful and delightful way to use those plastic bags. I’m guessing that these bags can be easily stored for next year or made for a variety of occasions. Gosh…I really need to learn how to crochet!!!

Condo Blues presents 10 Ways I Greened my Home for St. Patrick’s Day, saying, “Most of crafts are both the color green and environmentally friendly green!” Beautiful!

Francine Clouden presents Removable Cushion Cover posted at Tuesday To-Do. She says, “This tutorial is the first in the series of posts I will be doing on crafting using items bought at flea markets and thrift stores.” Very sweet and I love the look of these vintage cushions.

Homemaker Barbi (Danelle Ice) presents Seeds Place Cards Craft for Spring Garden Tablescape posted at Homemaker Barbi. “Learn how to make springy garden-inspired place cards with this seed packet craft project.” What a great idea - simple, creative and very pretty!

Cyndi Lavin presents Making monoprint background papers posted at Layers Upon Layers, saying, “How do you make a monoprint, and why would you even want to?” I really enjoyed this tutorial because it seems easy and the possibilities are endless. I think the kids would also like to participate in this project with me and imagine what we could do with our designs…!

Michele presents Needle felting. So good, so easy posted at A House Called Nut - Life in the backwoods of Finland. A great tutorial — it makes me want to start my own felting project and that’s something I haven’t worked on in quite awhile. I’m happy that the local craft stores are now carrying wool so I no longer have to buy it all online. Thanks Michele for inspiring me!

Darcy presents Garden Party Paper Lantern posted at Smart-Bottom Enterprises. Darcy teaches us how to make “a pretty and fun craft to do with your little girl.” These party lanterns would make fun decorations for a child’s birthday celebration. I imagine that you could color of the paper and have the boys make lanterns too! Love it!

I hope you have enjoyed your time here and look forward to your comments and future submissions. Please submit your blog article to the next edition of crafts carnival using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
Aloha and have a wonderful day!
